"A simply wonderful home away from home!"

Whether you plan to explore the gorgeous Normandy countryside or visit the World War II sites or Mont St. Michel, these clean, comfortable, and well equipped gites are a perfect home away from home.

The kitchens are kitted out nicely if you plan to cook, the beds are marvelously comfortable, and you can choose between satellite television channels or a well-filled movie hard-drive-box. There is a washing machine inside the gites and the wifi is quite reliable.

The local village of Moyon has all of the basics and there are large grocery stores within a few minutes of driving time. The silence at night and the starry skies are stunning. The owner, a happily transplanted British woman, is oh-so-helpful and informative and she even drove into the village to lead us back when our sat-nav took us to the wrong driveway.

I highly recommend these splendid gites to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday in the Normandy countryside!

"Comfortable in a fabulous location"

Our stay was very pleasant but very busy as there was so much to see. Our host was very accommodating and always at hand to be of service. We received a home from home welcome where it even felt we were visiting family.

Just wanted to drop you a quick line to say thank you very much for a lovely holiday. The Gite Poppy was great – perfect location for getting around Normandy and spotlessly clean and tidy.

Just so you are aware although you may already be – two of the bulbs in the main fitting in the living room have gone pop at some point – and that’s not a gripe – just a fact of life that didn’t affect us much as we hardly used it.

Only things I can think of that would have been useful additions are a colander or sieve (all the gites I have stayed in never have these for some reason) and a couple of cafetieres – the coffee maker was fine and worked brilliantly, but my husband drinks decaff ground and I drink full strength so we had to juggle a bit. But again, not gripes, just things that might make someone elses stay more pleasurable and therefore more likely to return. We would certainly like to if we decide to Normandy again.

"Good choice!"

We have spent a good time by this gite. The owner is very friendly, didn't cost to much, we had everything what we need at our disposal and the turistic sites that we were interested in were at maxim one our drive fro the gite.

The hidden gem of Normandy!

Wow! We have no idea where to start? The gite was in a marvelous and quaint town of Moyon, just south of Saint Lo. We had visited the area to have easy access to D-Day memorial sites as well as beaches, and this was the perfect spot to do so. Not only did we do what we set out, but we found the area to be such an unbelievable and friendly place.

The gite itself was fantastic, with all of the amenities one could possibly need. It had a wonderful living room (big enough for a large family, so more than enough for us) with a flat screen TV, full-sized kitchen where we cooked most of our meals, and spacious bedrooms, all of which were very clean and tidy. The gite also had a small deck perfect for early evening cordials and beautiful horses running in the adjoining pasture.

The property owner was extremely helpful with suggestions on local events, as well as anything that we needed on site (without being overbearing, which was great). Overall, we highly recommend staying here, and I am sure we will be back!

"Great week"

We had a wonderful stay in Gite Poppy. The owner was friendly and helpful. We were able to do many day trips, because most of the sites like d-day beaches and Mont Saint Michel are less then an hour away. We would love to come again.

"A Very Relaxing Week"

I had been threatening to rent a place in France for a week for several years and we finally took the plunge and rented Gite Lilly for a week. It was very quiet and comfortable and we really enjoyed it.

The property is located a couple of minutes' drive from the center of the village of Moyon. Moyon is a short drive from nearest motorway, surrounded by rolling hills and picture post card French country villages. On the ground floor you enter into an open plan living / dining room furnished in comfortable and casual furniture. There is a comfortable kitchen with all of the essentials, and a small but functional bathroom - with a clothes washing machine. Upstairs are two nice sized bedrooms, with roof windows. One bedroom has a queen size bed and the other can be set up as a king size bed or two twins. The owner lives on site and was very friendly and helpful. She is from Britton and has lived and worked in France for over a decade.

As an american I was a little intimidated by paying by bank transfer - but it was actually quite easy. Polly sent me the wire transfer instructions, I took them into my local bank branch and the staff there took care of it (for a fee of about $45.) Polly confirmed that the payment had arrived within a couple of days.

Moyon has a small local shop with groceries, fresh fruit and vegies and wine, and a wonderful butcher shop next door (try the Lapin Terrine.) There is a wonderful bakery around the corner. There is a mid-sized Carrefour market in Tessy an easy 10-15 minute drive away.

There are a million things to see and do in the area including turning off the sat-nav and getting lost on the back roads and post card villages.

It was a very relaxing week. We found the rental very comfortable. It was so nice to be able to shop in the delightful markets and have a "home away from home" to take things back to.

We would like to thank you for a lovely holiday in Gite Poppy.

It is pretty, cozy and most importantly, is perfectly well equipped kitchen and other rooms. Service very friendly and helpful and in particular boys of Ireland (Conor and James).

Beautiful surroundings very much a place for children, close to Moyon, where you can stock up on basic supplies (local bakery has wonderful bread).

Close by is a wonderful sandy beach and worth to see the Mont Saint Michel city. We've been spending a wonderful time and in good conscience recommend this place to another family with kids.

Thank you again from Angelika & Michael, Veronica and David

Gorgeous country retreat!

We stayed in Gite Poppy in Spring and it was just lovely. The area is filled with gorgeous daffodils and the grass was nice and green. The gite itself was in a fantastic area, not too far a drive from Mont St Michel and other towns such as St Lo, which has a great fresh food market on Saturdays.

The gite is in great condition, with everything you would need for a relaxing holiday week away. Inside the gite is warm and homely with good self-contained facilities and nice large beds. Books were provided in the living room, as well as an English skybox.

The gite is in a lovely stone building which is perfect for the countryside location, surrounded by cows and horses. The owners dogs were also fun to play with. Truly a great place to come for some time away from the city.
